This is the best biography of Poe and the only one that I recomment. While the reading may be tedious to the modern reader it is filled with accurate and objective observations on Poe. It also contains a photograph of a Rufus Griswold forgery. It hasn’t been surpassed since it was published so many years ago.
Thanks for this comment and info, Jeff. Glad to know it. I bought this book a couple of years ago, but I haven’t read yet it.
